The Sheboygan South Redwings Boys Soccer program was established in 1972, born from a passion for the beautiful game and a commitment to developing young men of character. What began as a small intramural program quickly grew into one of the most respected soccer programs in the Fox River Valley Conference.
Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the Redwings built a dominant conference presence, capturing back-to-back championship titles in 1988 and 1989. Under legendary coach Robert Kleinhans, the program reached its first WIAA State Tournament appearance in 1993 — a watershed moment that cemented Sheboygan South's place in Wisconsin high school soccer history.
The 2000s brought renewed vigor. New facilities, an expanded coaching staff, and a growing feeder program from Sheboygan South's youth leagues created a pipeline of talent that fueled three consecutive conference titles from 2006 to 2008. The 2011 state runner-up finish remains one of the program's proudest accomplishments.
Today, the Redwings continue that proud tradition under Head Coach Michael Schroeder, who has led the program since 2018 and guided the team to four conference championships and two state semifinal appearances in seven seasons.
"The Sheboygan South Redwings Boys Soccer program is committed to developing complete young men — skilled athletes, excellent students, and principled leaders who represent their school, families, and community with integrity on and off the pitch."
We cultivate leaders who take initiative, communicate with confidence, and elevate those around them — skills that translate far beyond soccer.
Student-athlete is not just a title — it's a standard. We hold our players to rigorous academic expectations and celebrate their classroom achievements.
We compete hard and compete clean. Win or lose, Redwings carry themselves with dignity, respect opponents, and honor the game.
Our players are embedded in the Sheboygan community — giving back through volunteering, mentoring younger players, and representing the city with pride.
